It’s a one skillet, few ingredient and simple dish! I have used a chicken patty here but you can always replace the chicken with boiled and mashed chickpeas or potatoes and vegetables. Burger Without A Bun – Bell Pepper Burgers

Prep time: 15 mins

Cook time: 10 mins

Total time: 25 mins

Serving Size: 3 Burgers


  • Bell Peppers, Medium – 3
  • Lettuce – 1/2 cup
  • Onion, sliced in a circle – 1/2 an onion
  • Tomato, sliced in a circle – 1/2 a tomato

Spinach Mix

  • Spinach, chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Mozzarella cheese – 1/2 cup
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Red chili flakes – 1/2 tsp
  • Nutmeg, grated – A pinch (optional)

Chicken Patty

  • Chicken Mince – 150 gms
  • Celery, finely chopped – 1 tsp
  • Garlic, finely chopped – 1 tsp
  • Parsley or coriander, finely chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Ground cashews or almonds or peanuts – 1/2 cup
  • Spring onion, chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Red chili flakes – 1/2 tsp
  • Piri Piri spice mix (optional) – 1 tsp
  • Oregano – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Egg – 1


  1. Mix together the ingredients listed under spinach mix and keep aside.
  2. Mix together the ingredients listed under chicken patty and keep aside.
  3. Cut bell peppers into three equal parts vertically. Look at the video (above) to know more.
  4. Preheat the oven at 200 degree C.
  5. Stuff the middle part of the bell pepper with the chicken mix.
  6. Stuff the top and bottom part with the spinach and cheese mix.
  7. Arrange on a baking tray and bake at 200 degree C for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. For arranging the burger, remove the layer of pepper from the cooked patty.
  9. Now place the bottom part of the bell pepper, place lettuce on this.
  10. Place a slice of onion and tomato on top. Now place the chicken patty. Layer with a lettuce again.
  11. Now place the top of the bell pepper.
